Legislation

The Boundary Commission for Scotland is constituted by the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986 which governs our membership and constitution. That Act also defines the rules that we use when recommending UK Parliament constituencies in Scotland.

Under the terms of s.8 of the Scotland Act 2016, responsibility for reviews of Scottish Parliament boundaries passed from the Boundary Commission for Scotland to the Local Government Boundary Commission for Scotland with effect from 18 May 2017.
